TUNIS - Algeria will suspend all domestic flights from March 22 to April 4 to combat the spread of the coronavirus, Ennahar television reported on Thursday.

The government said earlier it would enact measures including the suspension of public transportation and paid leave for half of state employees.

Algeria currently has 90 confirmed cases and 9 deaths, according to the latest figures.

The Collective of civil society announced on social networks the cancellation of anti-government protests held every Friday for fear of the coronavirus outbreak.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune banned Tuesday rallies and marches as part of the measures announced to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
