Bahrain king finances oriental music institute project in Assilah
ASSILAH – Nabeel Yakoub al-Hamer advisor for Information Affairs to the King of Bahrain and Secretary General of the Assilah Forum Foundation Mohammed Benaissa laid Tuesday the first stone of the construction of an oriental music institute in the northern city of Assilah.
The Bahrain Institute of Oriental Music, which will be located in the old medina, in Tama Guilana, is being financed by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa as part of the brotherly ties between the Gulf Arab emirate and Morocco.
Young musicians from Assilah and the Tangier-Tetouan-Hoceima region will benefit from the music institute.
“This is an iconic project that will certainly make history when talented musicians, who will emerge from the institute, will make it to international fame,” said Benaissa.
The Assilah Forum Foundation and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities will be entrusted with the management of this new institute, which will specialize in teaching the rules of music in general and oriental music in particular.

The music insitute project is set to boost Assilah's image as one of Morocco's leading cultural cities.
