Blinken holds talks with Moroccan FM

US Secretary of State discusses with Bourita the two countries’ shared interest in regional peace and human rights besides their desire to see stability in Libya.

ROME – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held talks in Rome on Monday with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to defeat the Islamic State group.

Blinken said in a tweet that he discussed with Bourita “our shared interest in regional peace and stability and human rights, including press freedom.”

“We also discussed developments in Libya and our desire to see stability and prosperity there,” he added.

On May 18, Blinken highlighted the importance of the strong bilateral partnership and Morocco’s key role in fostering stability in the region in a phone call with Bourita.
