Five killed in explosion on bus carrying oil facility guards in Syria

An explosive device detonates near a bus carrying oil facility guards in Syria's Deir el-Zor.

DAMASCUS - Five defence ministry personnel were killed and others injured after an explosive device detonated near a bus carrying oil facility guards in Syria's Deir el-Zor, the state-run El Ekhbariya TV reported on Thursday.

No group immediately claimed responsibility of the attack. 

State television said a blast hit a bus on the road between the cities of Deir el-Zor and Mayadeen, some 50 kilometres (30 miles) away.
