Iran president rejects Zarif's resignation

Rouhani says he believes Iranian FM’s resignation is against Islamic republic’s interests.

TEHRAN - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani rejected Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's resignation on Wednesday, the government's official website said.

"I believe your resignation is against the country's interests and do not approve it," Rouhani wrote in a letter to Zarif, the website said.

Zarif attended a ceremony to welcome Armenia's prime minister to Tehran on Wednesday, soon after Rouhani rejected his resignation, the semi-official ISNA news agency reported.
