Israel’s Deputy PM on working visit to Morocco

Gideon Sa'ar will visit Morocco as part of strengthening ties and bilateral cooperation in the field of justice between the two countries.

RABAT - Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Gideon Sa'ar will visit Morocco on Monday as part of strengthening ties and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Sa'ar’s first visit to Morocco work in Morocco will include talks with Moroccan officials in the field of justice and law since the resumption of relations.

He will sign an important agreement on legal cooperation which will promote the collaboration, sharing of expertise and common discourse in legal fields between the two countries.

Sa'ar will travel to Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech, where he will hold a series of meetings with ministers and senior officials, including his counterpart Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi.

The aim of the declaration is to promote mutual discourse and partnerships in the common areas and issues relating to justice and legal systems.

Some of the main aspects of the declaration are to continue the modernization and digitization of legal systems, promote the public defence of the Moroccan Ministry of Justice, cooperation between the Sharia courts of the two countries and the development of alternatives to the punitive justice system, including the decriminalization of legal processes.

“I look forward to visiting the Kingdom of Morocco, a country that is considered a true friend of Israel and a great ally in the region,” said Sa’ar ahead of his visit to Rabat.

“My visit with my counterpart, Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi, will reinforce the relations between our two countries and we will work to develop joint initiatives in the field of justice and much more,” he added.
