Israel: Algeria has become passage for terrorists since Arab Spring

Israeli Foreign Affairs spokesman says Lapid’s statement at a conference in Morocco two weeks ago on Algeria’s ties with Iran includes precise information.

LONDON - Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid’s statement at a conference in Morocco two weeks ago on Algeria’s ties with Iran includes “precise information,” Israeli Foreign Affairs spokesman Hassan Kaiba told Madar21.

“Algeria has become, since the beginning of the Arab Spring, a passage for terrorist movements at the instigation of Iran”, Kaiba said in a statement to the “Madar21” website.

“Cooperation between Algeria and Iran is of particular concern to us as Iran aims to infiltrate all countries”, said the spokesman, adding that the Islamic republic’s actions in the Middle East region were at the origin of the destruction and terrorism raging particularly in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

“Iran continues to interfere in the affairs of African countries, including Algeria,” said Kaiba.

On his first visit to Morocco since the countries normalized ties, Lapid said his concerns were based on fears Algeria was “getting close to Iran,” as well as “the campaign it waged against the admission of Israel as an observer member of the African Union.”
