Moroccan journalist arrested for ‘sexual assault’
Soulaiman Raissouni, who is editor of Arabic-language daily Akhbar Al Yaoum, is accused of "sexual assault" of man from Marrakech.

RABAT – Moroccan authorities arrested Friday journalist Soulaiman Raissouni outside his home in Casablanca following a complaint against him by a man from Marrakech for “sexual assault.”
Raissouni, who is the editor of the Arabic-language daily Akhbar Al Yaoum, is accused of "sexual assault" which dates back to the end of 2018 after the alleged victim chose to make the accusation public.
The newspaper’s founder Taoufik Bouachrine is serving a 15-year prison sentence for human trafficking and abuse of power and authority for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
Raissouni is the uncle of Hajar Raissouni, journalist for the same newspaper who was sentenced last September to one year in prison for illegal abortion, before receiving a royal pardon in October 2019.
