Morocco’s Hammouchi, US Ambassador to Rabat discuss security cooperation

Head of Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Fischer review mechanisms for developing, strengthening cooperation between the services of the DGSN and the DGST and the American security agencies in combating the risks and dangers associated with transnational organised crime, terrorism.

RABAT - The head of General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and Territorial Surveillance (DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi discussed Thursday with US Ambassador to Rabat David Fischer bilateral cooperation in various areas of security.

During the meeting at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) in Rabat, Hammouchi and Fisher discussed various security subjects of common interest, in particular the cooperation and coordination mechanisms in the fight against the risks and danger of terrorism, violent extremism, organized crime and their growing links growing in the North African and Sahel regions, said the DGST in a statement.

The two parties also discussed the means to enhance this cooperation, which has become a model to follow in the field of the fight against terrorism, said the same source.

The two officials also reviewed the mechanisms for developing and strengthening cooperation between the services of the DGSN and the DGST and the American security agencies in combating the risks and dangers associated with transnational organised crime, in addition to the exchange of expertise and experiences.

Hammouchi and Fischer welcomed the results of bilateral strategic cooperation in the security field, expressing the willingness of the two countries to develop the levels of this cooperation in contribution to world peace and stability, the statement concluded.
