Morocco’s king pardons 672 inmates

The royal pardon of hundreds of prisoners with various sentences marks the occasion of Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi.

RABAT - On the occasion of Eid Al Mawlid Annabawi, King Mohammed VI has granted his pardon to 672 people sentenced by the different Moroccan courts, said a statement by the ministry of Justice.

The King has additionally granted His pardon to prisoners convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, who have obtained the Royal Approval after officially expressing their attachment to the constants of the Nation and national institutions, revising their ideological orientations and rejecting extremism and terrorism.

Royal pardon is customary in Morocco to mark national and religious holidays.

The Moroccan monarch chaired a religious ceremony in commemoration of Eid Al-Mawlid Annabawi Asharif, on Saturday evening at the Hassan mosque in Rabat.

This religious ceremony was marked by reciting verses of the Holy Quran and panegyrics of the Prophet Mohammed, Prayer and Blessing on Him.
