Morocco’s security services file complaints against individuals living abroad

Three security institutions file complaints against individuals living abroad for insulting public officials during performance of their duties, slanderous denunciation, fictitious crimes, spreading false allegations and facts, defamation.

RABAT - The Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and the Directorate General of Studies and Documentation (DGED) have filed complaints against individuals living abroad, according to a joint statement by Morocco’s security institutions.

The complaint was filed with the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Rabat Magistrates Court against individuals living abroad for "insulting public officials during the performance of their duties" and "insulting the constituted bodies", as well as for "slanderous denunciation", "fictitious crimes" ,"spreading false allegations and facts" and for "defamation".

The joint statement said that the presentation of this complaint to the competent judicial authorities came in the context of the exercise of the right to sue that is guaranteed to these institutions and the implementation of the principle of "State Protection" provided to security officials, following verbal attacks against them during the exercise of their missions and the rise of acts of defamation and contempt committed by those denounced.
