Britain adds eight designations to Iran sanctions list

The British government says members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, including a commander, were sanctioned for involvement in "hostile activity" by the Iranian government.

LONDON - Britain on Monday imposed sanctions on seven individuals and one entity linked to Iran for their alleged involvement in hostile activity.

Members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including a commander, were sanctioned for involvement in "hostile activity" by the Iranian government, the British government said.

The activity involved threatening, planning or conducting attacks, including assassinations, in countries other than Iran, including the UK, the British government added.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he was concerned about tensions in the Middle East and urged Iran to de-escalate.
