Lufthansa, Swiss extend flight suspensions to Tel Aviv

Germany's Lufthansa Group has extended its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman and Erbil up to and including August 21, while Swiss International Air Lines has extended the suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut up to and including August 21.

FRANKFURT - Germany's Lufthansa Group has extended its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman and Erbil up to and including Aug. 21, the airline said on Monday, amid fears of an escalation in conflict in the Middle East.

Lufthansa will not be using Iranian and Iraqi airspace during that period, it said in an emailed statement.

Swiss International Air Lines said on Monday it had extended the suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut up to and including Aug. 21.

It added that the airspace over Iran, Iraq and Israel would be avoided until Aug. 21. The airline also reissued a previous statement about extending flight suspensions until Aug. 13.
