Bahrain’s Ramadan drama line-up promises laughter, cultural flair

Amid intense competition and a race against time to complete final scenes, Bahrain TV promises a mix of comedy, social satire and culturally rich productions.

MANAMA – The Bahraini audience is gearing up for a vibrant television season, as Bahrain TV unveiled its drama line-up for Ramadan 2026. Amid intense competition and a race against time to complete final scenes, the channel promises a mix of comedy, social satire and culturally rich productions that reflect both modern and traditional facets of Gulf life.

Leading the buzz is “Toba wa Noba,” a new comedic series expected to capture widespread attention. The show offers standalone episodes with diverse humorous stories, featuring a stellar cast of Bahraini and Gulf actors, including Soad Ali, Salwa Bakheet, Sami Rashdan, Shaima Sabt, Salwa al-Jarrash and Ghada al-Faihani. Sabt herself stirred excitement on social media, teasing viewers with glimpses of the series’ witty and playful tone.

“Toba wa Noba” centres on two retired sisters, Saada and Saeeda, who discover that life’s adventures are far from over. Seeking to break from decades of routine, they embark on daily escapades that reignite their passion and bring humour to ordinary situations. Sharing a home with Mansour, their late niece’s good-natured nephew, the sisters navigate a series of comical social entanglements, including Mansour’s romantic pursuit of Saad’s neighbour, Souad, despite her father’s objections.

Soad Ali portrays Saada, the assertive elder sister whose impulsive nature often lands her in trouble, while Ghada al-Faihani plays Saeeda, the supposedly level-headed younger sister who frequently finds herself dominated by Saada’s daring schemes.

Salwa al-Jarrash brings to life Suad, Mansour’s love interest, whose father, Masoud, played by Adel al-Johar, is a tight-fisted, jealous neighbour who constantly clashes with the younger generation. Mansour, depicted by Abdullah al-Darzi, is the well-meaning, somewhat naïve nephew, whose kind heart repeatedly gets him into awkward situations. Each episode also features special guest stars, adding freshness and variety to the series.

Alongside comedy, Bahrain TV is presenting “Ghanawi Shouq,” a heritage drama series that blends traditional Gulf music with intelligent storytelling. Each of its 15 episodes is self-contained, anchored by a different classic song that acts as both narrative and emotional compass. The series explores Gulf society in days past, taking viewers from bustling markets and family homes to coastal shores and celebratory gatherings, with music serving as the emotional thread connecting the stories.

According to lead actress Hiba al-Durri, “Ghanawi Shouq” is a heartfelt journey through Gulf culture, highlighting the role of traditional songs in daily life, whether in weddings, farewells at sea, expressions of love or moments of grief and longing. The series aims to preserve the rich legacy of Gulf folk music as an integral part of the region’s cultural identity, combining simplicity and depth to tell stories of human emotion, social life, and collective memory.

By juxtaposing laughter with nostalgia, Bahrain TV’s Ramadan 2026 season offers something for every viewer: a comedic mirror of contemporary life and a reverent window into Gulf heritage. With top-tier talent, creative storytelling and culturally resonant themes, the network is set to engage audiences across generations, reaffirming the enduring appeal of both humour and tradition in regional drama.
