UAE condemns Sunday attack at UN Security Council

NEW YORK - United Arab Emirates Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab warned on Tuesday that a recent strike targeting the country represents a severe threat to Middle Eastern stability in a sharply worded address to an emergency session of the UN Security Council.

Ambassador Abushahab told the council that Sunday’s attack constitutes a “dangerous escalation in an already volatile regional environment,” emphasizing that the strike was a direct attempt to undermine the UAE’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

An Emergency Session Amid Mounting Peril

The emergency meeting was convened following Sunday's military strike, which shook an already fragile region currently grappling with severe supply chain disruptions, energy corridor blockades, and an ongoing conflict involving major regional powers.

Addressing the chamber, Abushahab stressed that the UAE would not tolerate violations of its borders or threats to its citizens. By bringing the matter directly to the UN Security Council, the UAE is seeking a unified international stance against the perpetrators and looking to fortify its defensive and diplomatic positions.

"The strike sought to undermine the UAE's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity," Abushahab stated, signaling that the attack crossed a critical red line.
