Morocco to host first Russian film festival in Rabat June 18-21

The festival is a new cultural initiative aimed at deepening bilateral ties between the two countries through the art of cinema.

RABAT – Morocco will host its inaugural Russian Film Festival from June 18 to 21, organizers announced, in a new cultural initiative aimed at deepening bilateral ties between the two countries through the art of cinema.

The four-day festival, organized by ROSKINO in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Culture, will take place in the Moroccan capital, Rabat. It represents a significant step in cultural diplomacy, showcasing the diversity and richness of contemporary and classic Russian filmmaking.

Festival-goers can look forward to a varied program featuring Russian films across multiple genres, including drama, animation, action, science fiction, and family entertainment. The selection aims to offer Moroccan audiences a comprehensive view of Russian cinematic storytelling and creativity.

This event comes as both Morocco and Russia continue to expand cooperation beyond traditional economic and political spheres, with culture and people-to-people exchanges playing an increasingly important role. Organizers hope the festival will not only entertain but also foster greater mutual understanding and appreciation between the two nations.

The Russian Film Festival in Morocco is expected to include screenings, discussions, and possibly meetings with filmmakers, providing a platform for cultural dialogue and future collaborative projects in the film industry.
