Romania decorates head of Morocco’s DGED with highest distinction
BUCHAREST – Romanian President Klaus Werner Johannis signed on November 6 a decree to decorate Yassine Mansouri, Morocco’s head of the external intelligence agency, the General Directorate for Studies and Documentation (DGED), with "The Star of Romania" order, the oldest and highest distinction offered by the Romanian state.
The Presidential decree, which was published November 9 in the Official Gazette of Romania, came as a sign of high appreciation for the exceptional contribution of the DGED of Morocco to the promotion of regional security and the development of relations with its Romanian counterpart.

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Minister of Foreign Affairs Luminita Odobescu had recently praised the fruitful security cooperation between the foreign intelligence services of the two countries.
Romanian citizen Iulian Ghergut, who was kidnapped in Burkina Faso in 2015 by a terrorist group linked to Al-Qaeda, was released last August with Morocco’s help.
Romania’s foreign ministry thanked Morocco for its “significant support ” during the release, without providing further details.
