UAE sends medical supplies to Russia’s Dagestan, Grozny

United Arab Emirates continues its global fight against spread of coronavirus pandemic by sending medical supplies to Dagestan, Grozny, Madagascar.

ABU DHABI - The United Arab Emirates sent on Wednesday a plane loaded with nine tonnes of medical supplies to Dagestan in Russia as part of the Gulf state’s global fight against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The aid will assist approximately 9,000 medical professionals working to contain the COVID-19 pandemic in Dagestan, according to the state news agency WAM.

UAE Ambassador to Russia Maadhad Hareb Jaber Alkhayeli said that “Russia has long been and will remain a key partner of the UAE on the political, cultural, and economic fronts.”
“When challenging circumstances arise, such partnerships become more important than ever in strengthening ties of solidarity and extending lifesaving assistance around the world,” said Alkhayeli.

“With today’s delivery of aid to Dagestan, the UAE further affirms its commitment to working alongside the leadership and frontline medical workers of Russia to overcome this pandemic,” he added.

The UAE sent on Monday a shipment of medical supplies to Grozny to help them boost their fight against COVID-19.

The Gulf state also sent on Wednesday an aid plane containing nine tonnes of medical supplies to Madagascar.

UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya and Non-Resident Ambassador to Madagascar Khalid Khalifa AlMualla said that “the UAE is determined to assist countries in need in strengthening the global fight against COVID-19.”

“With today’s delivery of aid to Madagascar, the UAE affirms its commitment to equipping frontline healthcare workers with the necessary supplies and prioritising public health across borders during these challenging times,” added AlMualla.

To date, the UAE has responded to the COVID-19 crisis by providing over 701 tonnes of aid to 61 countries in need, supporting more than 701,000 medical professionals in the process.
