US congressmen praise Moroccan King’s leadership in favour of regional peace and stability

US Congressman August Pfluger stresses that Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, and the US are working together to promote a more stable and secure regional space.

RABAT - A delegation from the US Congress praised Monday in Rabat the leadership of King Mohammed VI in favour of regional peace and stability.

In a statement to the press following talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, US Congressman August Pfluger stressed that Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, and the United States are working together to promote a more stable and secure regional space.

Morocco and the United States are linked by “extremely important” historical relations, he said, highlighting the Morocco-USA strategic partnership which benefits the national security of both countries.

He also welcomed the free trade agreement and cooperation between Morocco and the US, particularly in terms of security, including the most important multinational exercise on the African continent, African Lion, adding that the talks with Bourita focused on several issues, including collaboration in the fight against all forms of threats.

On this occasion, he expressed his thanks to the Kingdom of Morocco for all the work accomplished, as a regional leader and on a global scale, specifying that the two countries work together to promote peace, prosperity and security in the world.

For his part, US Congressman Lou Correa, highlighted the excellence of the partnership uniting Morocco and the US, calling for further consolidation of cooperation between the two countries in various areas, particularly in matters of fight against cross-border crime and terrorist organizations.

“Morocco is a strategic ally and a source of stability throughout the region,” he said, noting that Morocco and the USA, which are linked by common interests and objectives, work to ensure regional security and prosperity.

Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States of America, he recalled, highly welcoming the centuries-old relations and historical ties between the two countries.

This delegation of members of the American Congress, made up of six deputies representing the Republican and Democratic parties, was received on Monday by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.

This visit is part of the examination of ways to strengthen strategic relations between Morocco and the United States of America, under the leadership of the two Heads of State, King Mohammed VI and the President Joe Biden.
