RABAY - Two young French-Moroccans were shot dead on Tuesday by Algerian border guards when they were lost at sea aboard their jet-ski, near the northeastern coastal city of Saïdia, in the Algerian maritime area bordering the Moroccan coast.

A TikTok video of a Moroccan on a boat showing the body of one of the jet-skiers floating in the sea went viral and sparked huge condemnation across social networks.

People who know the victims in France identified them as Bilal Kissi et Abdelali Mechouer.

Another video on the platform X showed Morocco’s Royal Gendarmerie pulling the corpse of one of the victims from the sea.

The incident is likely to worsen the already tense ties between Morocco and Algeria.
