Casablanca’s International Children's and Youth Book Fair to be held Dec. 14-22

Morocco’s Ministry of Culture has allocated a budget of 33 million dirhams ($3.41 million) for organizing the book fair, with the aim of promoting children's literature and instilling a taste for reading from a young age.

CASABLANCA - The second edition of the International Children's and Youth Book Fair (SILEJ), will be held December 14-22 at the Anfa Park space in the Moroccan economic capital of Casablanca.

The Ministry of Culture has allocated a budget of 33 million dirhams ($3.41 million) for organizing the book fair, with the main objective of promoting children's literature and instilling a taste for reading from a young age.

Local authors, illustrators and publishers will present their works to young audiences, while offering visitors the opportunity to discover foreign works translated into Arabic and French.

This intercultural event will offer increased visibility to Moroccan talents while highlighting global trends in children's literature.

Many activities will be organized, including signing sessions and meetings between young readers and their favorite authors or illustrators.

The fair will also feature various creative, educational and scientific workshops, in addition to debates on literature and art.
