Higher Institute of Security Sciences inaugurated in Ifrane

The Higher Institute of Security Sciences is part of the implementation of DGSN's vision for the future regarding the development of police training programs and their adaptation to new security challenges and issues.

IFRANE – Morocco’s Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi inaugurated on Friday the Higher Institute of Security Sciences in Ifrane, which promises to strengthen and develop security training system in Morocco.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by foreign and national partners in the field of academic and police training, including President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Saudi Arabia Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Albanyan, and General Rashid Mohamed Bourshid, Director of the Saif bin Zayed Academy of Security and Policing Sciences, under the General Command of the Abu Dhabi Police, as well as several presidents of national universities and academic institutes.

Also attending the inauguration of the Higher Institute of Security Sciences were the first president of the Court of Cassation, deputy president of the Supreme Council of Judicial Power Mohamed Abdennabaoui, the wali of the Fez-Meknes region, the governor of the province of Ifrane, the governor of the province of Hajeb, and foreign liaison officers accredited to Morocco.

According to a press release from the DGSN, the Higher Institute of Security Sciences is part of the implementation of DGSN's vision for the future regarding the development of police training programs and their adaptation to new security challenges and issues, as well as the establishment of sustainable partnerships in the field of training with national and international training institutes and establishments.

This specialized higher institute will strengthen and enshrine the security training system in Morocco, provided by the Royal Police Institute in Kenitra and various regional police schools. It will be responsible for holding training sessions, scientific workshops, and a partnership program with international and national institutes, with the aim of training security executives and bolstering the capacities of executives and police officers in the field of security.

The main objective of the Higher Institute of Security Sciences is to train security executives with a proactive vision and high technical competence, capable of responding intelligently to the rapid changes taking place worldwide in the fields of security, artificial intelligence, digitization, and modern technologies, while promoting a culture of respect for human rights principles, the preservation of individual and collective freedoms, and the guarantee of citizens' dignity at all stages of security work.

To reach such objectives, scientific knowledge has been integrated into field practice in the training programs adopted by the Higher Institute of Security Sciences, and new sciences and technologies have been put at the service of security, in order to train qualified security officers with a professional mindset, analytical skills, and decision-making ability in the most complex situations.

In order to benefit from pioneering experiences in police training, a partnership agreement has been signed between the Higher Institute of Security Sciences and the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Saudi Arabia, providing training for security executives at the Arab level in doctoral and master's programs in multiple technical, scientific, legal, and security specialties.

This agreement strives to strengthen areas of joint cooperation in order to ensure support for contributions and initiatives aimed at developing regional and national policies and programs in areas of surveillance, crime fighting and prevention, promoting scientific research and innovation, conducting joint studies and research in various security-related fields. It also targets the exchange of experiences between the two parties within the framework of academic, research, and training programs, seminars, meetings, conferences, and workshops, as well as supporting and promoting the creation of an Arab network of experts and researchers in fields related to surveillance, crime prevention, and crime fighting.

The Higher Institute of Security Sciences, inaugurated on Friday in Ifrane, is equipped with training facilities, a translation and language training center, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, accommodation and catering facilities, an infirmary, as well as rooms for simulation of shooting and police interventions in difficult conditions, so as to provide an integrated training environment for learning and training in the best conditions.
