Morocco arrests Pakistani wanted by UAE
RABAT - Morocco’s police arrested on Wednesday a 37-year-old Pakistani national, who is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by the judicial authorities of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
National Security agents at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca arrested the suspect on suspicion of impersonating two police officers and stopping a car on the pretext of checking the identity of the driver and his companion, before seizing a bag in the possession of the two victims, which contained more than 630,000 euros in Emirati and European currencies.
The foreign suspect was referred to the competent public prosecution, while the Arab Liaison Division of the General Directorate of National Security was tasked with notifying its counterpart in the UAE of the arrest pending extradition.
The arrest of the suspect comes in the context of the commitment of Moroccan security services to activate Arab security cooperation mechanisms, especially the pursuit and arrest of persons wanted internationally in cases of transnational crime.
