Morocco promotes dead policeman to Peace Officer

Head of DGSN grants exceptional promotion to brigadier Mohammed Benjaouad who died after succumbing to serious injuries he sustained while on duty at traffic control point in Rabat.

RABAT – Morocco’s head of the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) Abdellatif Hammouchi granted on Saturday an exceptional promotion to police brigadier Mohammed Benjaouad, who died on Friday following serious injuries he sustained while on duty at a traffic control point due to a speeding violation committed by a car driver in Rabat.

Hammouchi promoted the decease policeman on an exceptional basis to the rank of Peace Officer, in application of the provisions of the special statute of the personnel of the National Security, in recognition of his abnegation and his great sacrifices, said the DGSN in a statement released on Saturday.

Benjaouad suffered multiple fractures and serious injuries when he was on duty in the early hours of June 6, before succumbing to them on Friday in hospital, it added.
