Morocco probes attempt to smuggle 3.2 tonnes of hashish from Casablanca port

The judicial police are opening of a judicial investigation to arrest suspects involved in an attempt to smuggle more than 3 tonnes and 206 kg of chira from the port of Casablanca.

RABAT - The prefectural service of the judicial police of Casablanca opened Wednesday a judicial investigation to arrest all those suspected of involvement in an attempt to smuggle more than 3 tonnes of hashish, seized on board a container intended for export from the port of Casablanca.

Border control measures carried out by the national security services and the customs services at the port of Casablanca, supported by trained police dogs, foiled an attempt to smuggle three tons and 206 kg of chira, carefully packaged in consumer products intended for export abroad, said the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a statement.

The search operations made it possible to locate the warehouse which was used to ship the seized narcotics, said the DGSN, indicating that research and investigations are underway to arrest all the people who contributed or participated in the criminal operation.
