Moroccan FM holds talks with Syrian counterpart in the Saudi city of Mecca.

RABAT - Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, reaffirmed Thursday his country's support for Syria unity and national sovereignty during talks with his Syrian counterpart Assaad Hassan Al-Shibani in Mecca.

During this meeting, Bourita said that King Mohammed VI had assured Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa of his support for the realization of the ambitions of the Syrian people.

In a message of congratulations to Sharaa on becoming president during the transition period, the Moroccan monarch reaffirmed "the position of the Kingdom of Morocco which has, at all times, been that of supporting the brotherly Syrian people to achieve their aspirations for freedom, tranquility and stability."

"A constant position which encourages, today as yesterday, the Kingdom to stand alongside the Syrian people as they go through a delicate and decisive stage in their history, and this, in perfect harmony with its position of principle in favor of the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria," added the message.
